Slate from Dalsland

The slate from Dalsland is estimated of being roughly 1.1 billion years old. It is similar to the slate from Grythyttan, only harder. It therefore features slots for fastening with nails. The colour varies from grey to green depending on which quarry it originates from. There is no active production of roof slate in Dalsland anymore, and in the beginning of the 20th century only one quarry was still active.
